H. e. 'El Desperado' Hemerocallis The daylily is a little perennial that produces an abundance of 5 in. wide, mustard-yellow flowers with a dramatic wine purple eye atop a green throat. The late summer blooms are neatly held above the plant's small pile of green, strap-like, arching leaves. The common name "Daylily" comes from the fact that each flower lasts at least 16 hours but no longer than 24 hours, opening in the morning and withering the next night before maybe being replaced by another one on the same flower stalk the following day.
