Beautifully variegated Polemonium reptans or Stairway to Heaven is good for shade or partial sun as long as it has adequate moisture. Often used for ground cover Polemonium reptans also goes by the name Jacob’s Ladder. In nature, you will find Jacob’s Ladder growing in moist environments as far north as Minnesota and New York and down into Georgia and Arkansas in the South. It has lovely green foliage, bell-shaped violet flowers, and it will self sow in the right location.
