The Bloodgood Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum ‘Bloodgood’) is a deciduous shrub or small tree that typically can grow up to 25′ tall. It is an ornamental tree that thrives in partial shade and moderately moist soils. In spring, blooms of small red or purple flowers give way to foliage known as samaras. In the fall, these present in shades of yellow and red/purple.
