'Pardon My Purple' Bee Balm
Monarda didyma
Known for its small stature, it is a compact perennial that forms clumps and has fuchsia purple blooms that are born in thick terminal heads that are globular in shape. Perched atop a whorl of ornamental bracts, they bloom for weeks in the middle to late summer and draw hummingbirds and butterflies in abundance. Their medium-green, semi-glossy leaves, which are appealing even when not in bloom, are carried atop tall stems. This dwarf bee balm gives a vibrant pop of color to the border and has good resistance to mildew. Ideal for tiny gardens, pots, and the front of sunny borders.
