Ligularia, Desdemona #1
Ligularia dentata 'Desdemona' (Leopard Plant)
Leopard Plant 'Desdemona'
This striking specimen perennial, often known as Elephant Ears, requires a damp location. Plants grow in clumps with huge, spherical dark-green leaves that have a purple backside. Taller stems with clusters of vivid golden orange daisy flowers appear in midsummer. Excellent for the back of the border or beside the water. A one-of-a-kind centerpiece for a tub or large container. The blooms and leaves are both excellent for cutting. Slugs can be a nuisance. Every 3 to 4 years, clumps can be separated in the spring. Plan to cultivate this in the shade in hot summer climates.
