Jasmine, Winter #3
Jasminum nudiflorum (Winter Jasmine)
Winter Jasmine, Winter-Flowered Jasmine, Jasminum sieboldianum
When left to grow freely, winter jasmine becomes a mounded plant with green, arching stems that flow over walls and embankments, forming a mounded, sprawling form. It has trifoliate, tiny, glossy leaves that fall with the first frost. Although deciduous, the green stems give it the appearance of being evergreen. The non-fragrant yellow flowers appear along the stems before the leaves in late winter or early spring. It can be cultivated as an arching shrub or as a vine. It works well as a ground cover or when trained over a wall.
