The Japanese Flower Cherry is a small, beautiful, deciduous tree that belongs to the rose family. It can reach a height of 36', is rounded and spreading, and has branches that rise stiffly. When a tree is young, its habit is vase-shaped, but as it ages, its habit spreads and its crown becomes rounded. Although they may tolerate mild shadow, these trees like sandy to clay wet well-drained loams in full sun. This plant is prone to borers and scale, as well as viral and fungal infections.
