The most recent and ideal black eyed susan that a gardener can plant is Minibeckia 'Flame'. 'Flame' develops into a perfect 3'x'3 flowering machine that never topples over, in contrast to other Rudbeckias that grow tall and spindly. Around July, blooms start, and they last for months. The blossoms are massive, reaching a width of up to 4-5", and the color is magnificent. They sparkle with hues of gold and orange and the distinctive black eye. Winter-resistant and good for pollinators.
