Compact and active, An profusion of gently cupped, double, bubblegum pink blooms with a central tuft of golden-yellow stamens are produced by the double-flowered Japanese anemone Anemone hupehensis 'Pocahontas'. The sturdy stalks holding the flowers upright can survive inclement weather. Following them come seed heads that resemble fluffy, creamy white cotton and keep the garden interesting well into the late fall and winter. This late summer garden classic deserves a spot in the garden, a container, or in a vase because it is low maintenance and well-behaved.
